Hey there domestic darlings I’m so excited to make this DIY furniture dusting spray with you today. As many of you know as part of my Podcast Cleaning Routines (Audio guided cleaning while listening to 1950s radio shows!) I do dusting every Thursday and I love to use this DIY dusting spray!
I’m a little bit on the sensitive side when it comes to normal cleaning products that you get at your local grocery store. So, I started making my own homemade cleaning products to counter some of my symptoms, and I LOADED up my DIY cleaning cart with them. (Click here for my blog post on how to set up your own cleaning cart)
ANYWHO, enough jabbering. Let’s get into what supplies you’ll need for today’s cleaning product recipe.
DIY Dusting Spray Recipe (With Vinegar)
- 1 glass spray bottle
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil.
- If you choose you can also add some essential oils of your pick I like to add lemon and pine.
Simply whisk all the ingredients together and pour into the glass spray bottle. Then as you use it, turn the spray bottle upside down a few times to get the oil into your spray. Straight vinegar is bad for wood, but the olive oil counters this and conditions it. If you have extra nice wooden furniture you need to be careful with, you can do this instead…
Homemade Dusting Spray Recipe (Without Vinegar)
- 1 glass spray bottle
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dish soap
Follow the same process as in the recipe above, and you’re good to go!
It’s important to note that neither of these recipes are disinfectants! While vinegar can clean, it does NOT disinfect. When you need to disinfect I recommend making a homemade disinfecting cleaning spray with Vodka, Rubbing Alcohol, or Hydrogen Peroxide.
I happen to have a recipe for you, along with the rest of my homemade cleaning products recipes, in my Printable Non-Toxic Cleaning Guide bundle!
Here’s The Lowdown On My Printable Non-Toxic Cleaning Stickers.
- Cleaning Ingredient Stickers: These tell me everything that can be cleaned with that ingredient alone.
- Cleaning Solution Recipe Stickers: These labels go on my spray bottles and tell what solution it is, as well as the instructions for making the solution. I have these for my glass cleaner, all-purpose cleaning spray, disinfecting spray, dusting spray, fabric spray/pillow mist, stain remover, dish soap, etc. (I have lots!) This way, when I run out and it’s time to make more, the recipe is right on the bottle and I don’t have to have it memorized or look it up!
- Cleaning Supply Stickers: These are stickers for things like my rags and sponges. It tells me how often to replace them, how often to wash them, and instructions for how to remove any odors they may have.
