Girl, let me tell you welcoming a baby into your life is a whirlwind of emotions, planning, and preparation—especially when it’s your first. For me, nesting has been an exciting and deeply emotional part of my pregnancy, in the best of ways. (But then, isn’t everything emotional whilst pregnant? Haha) That nesting urge has driven me to clean, organize, and prepare every little detail for our baby girl over the past two weeks. Today, I’m sharing how I’m getting ready for her by organizing baby bathroom essentials, while tying it all into my usual cleaning routine.
The Nesting Instinct is Real
The urge to nest is like no other—it’s deeply ingrained and almost impossible to ignore. The only thing that could MAYBE stop us moms on a mission is the back pain, lightning crotch, fatigue, and nausea. 😛 Throughout my pregnancy, I’ve REALLY looked forward to nesting (does that make me weird??) but nothing could prepare me for how strong the desire became in my third trimester. Knowing our baby girl is on her way makes everything feel SO much more real.
I’ve waited so long for this moment. I definitely was one of those girls that dreams of being a mommy someday. Preparing a place for our baby in our home and lives has been both surreal and emotional. The thought that the home her dad and I have built together will also become the home where we’ll love and nurture our daughter fills me with joy—and maybe a few tears.
Starting the Day with My Trusted Cleaning Routine
On this particular Tuesday, I decided to pair my cleaning routine with the extra tasks that nesting demanded. Following my normal habits helped reduce any feelings of overwhelm, so I began the day with my Tuesday cleaning schedule. (I use podcast cleaning routine episodes ft. Vintage radio shows to help me stay on task! You can try some here.)
Here’s how my morning routine usually unfolds:
- Airing the beds for a fresh start.
- Tackling the assigned laundry load for the day.
- Unloading the dishwasher to clear the sink.
- Picking up clutter around the house.
- Cleaning the bathroom as part of my Tuesday focus area.
Pairing my nesting tasks with my existing routine helped me stay productive and gave me a sense of accomplishment. SO I decided today I would tackle organizing all of baby’s bathroom essentials!
Getting Baby’s Bathroom Essentials Organized
One of the most exciting parts of nesting has been preparing all of my baby’s essentials. Today, I turned my attention to her bathroom items. Over the course of my pregnancy, I’ve gradually collected everything she’ll need for bathtime. From tiny baby towels to practical tools like a foldable bath and grooming supplies, I couldn’t wait to get it all organized. (And not sitting piled in a basket anymore!)
Setting Up a Portable Bath Kit
I wanted to create a portable bath kit that would work wherever we might be bathing her—whether it’s in the sink, tub, or even at Grandma’s house. Everything fits perfectly into a small container for easy transport. Here’s what I included in the kit:
- A foldable baby bath (I chose the Frida Mom one).
- A bathtub thermometer shaped like a cute white seal.
- A whale-shaped rinse cup for pouring water.
- Gentle baby skincare products like Cetaphil wash and lotion.
Everything was pre-washed and ready to go, which made the process feel even more real and exciting.

Organizing Grooming and Medical Supplies
To keep all of my daughter’s grooming and medical items organized, I used a compact case that matches my diaper bag. It’s perfect for holding essentials like:
- Baby nail clippers and a soft-bristle brush.
- A baby thermometer and nasal aspirator.
- Extra washcloths for quick cleanups.
Although I didn’t have every item I wanted just yet, I’m planning to add products like diaper cream, vitamin D drops, and Gripe Water in the coming weeks.

Making Room in a Small Space
Since our home is small, finding clever storage solutions has been key. Our one-bedroom only has a single closet, so we’ve repurposed an antique armoire with baskets to create her little “closet.” It has been the perfect solution for keeping everything tidy and accessible.
Pre-washed towels and rolled washcloths went into their own dedicated baskets, placed neatly on the top shelf. Having this organization in place feels so satisfying, and I know it’ll make life easier once she’s here.

The Emotional Side of Nesting
Nesting has brought up so many emotions for me. Every task, big or small, is laced with the realization that our daughter will soon be in our arms. Sometimes it feels like a dream, but moments like folding her tiny clothes and organizing her essentials make it all feel so tangible.
And while pregnancy comes with its fair share of discomforts—hip pain, sleepless nights, and aching ribs—I wouldn’t trade these moments for anything. Preparing for our baby girl has given me so much joy and anticipation.
Finding Joy in the Little Details
One of the things I learned during this process is that love really does grow in the smallest of spaces. Even though our home is cozy, it’s filled with so much happiness as we prepare to welcome her. Having a routine keeps me grounded, and the extra nesting tasks allow me to pour all my love into the motions of preparation.
Final Touches
By the end of the day, I had everything tucked neatly into her armoire. The bath kit was ready to grab and go, and her grooming case was perfectly organized. Seeing it all come together made me feel deeply accomplished but, more importantly, connected to my baby.
I know this is just the beginning of our parenting journey, but it already feels so rewarding to prepare everything with care and love.
Wrapping Up
Nesting has been one of the most beautiful and fulfilling parts of my pregnancy, and I loved combining it with my existing routines to keep things manageable. Whether you’re an expectant mom like me or just love the joy of organizing your home, I hope this glimpse into my process inspires you to find comfort and excitement in the small things.
Thank you for following along, and I can’t wait to share even more of this special time with you! 💕
