Hi, Domestic Darlings! Today, I’m excited to share how I created my very own cleaning clipboard. It’s helped me enormously as a homemaker with ADHD, allowing me to manage daily tasks without losing focus and keeping all my routines in one tidy spot. Better yet, you don’t need fancy tools to make one.

If keeping track of home chores sometimes feels overwhelming, the solution could be simpler than you think. Say hello to the cleaning clipboard—a practical, customizable way to stay organized and efficient. Whether you’re juggling work and home life or focusing completely on homemaking, a cleaning clipboard can help you stay on top of tasks without feeling scattered.

Why a Cleaning Clipboard is a Game-Changer

For homemakers both working and SAH, one of the biggest challenges is staying organized—especially when faced with an endless list of to-dos. A cleaning clipboard puts all your routines, guides, and checklists at your fingertips. Laminated or tucked away neatly inside the clipboard, your sheets are ready to be marked off with a dry-erase marker and used over and over. Having everything in one place means no more scrambling to remember which room needs dusting or what laundry needs doing.

Plus, it’s incredibly customizable, making it work perfectly for your unique routines and needs. I even like to keep my laundry guides (click here), and my meal planning printable (click here) in it as well.

Step-By-Step Guide to Building Your Cleaning Clipboard

1. Gather Your Supplies

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • clipboard with storage space (preferably with a pocket or compartment for extra sheets)
  • Laminating sheets (self-seal laminating pouches work great if you don’t have a laminating machine)
  • Dry-erase markers
  • Heavy-duty magnets (optional, if you’d like to attach the clipboard to a cleaning cart)
  • Your favorite cleaning printables or checklists (you can get my entire collection of printables here!)

Here’s the link to my Amazon storefront with the supplies I used: (Note, I make a small commission if you buy, but absolutely no pressure to purchase! Use the supplies that work for you!)

2. Laminate Your Routines

Start by laminating your most frequently used cleaning checklists and routines. For me, this includes:

  • Morning and evening cleaning routines (each takes just 30 minutes)
  • Deep Cleaning & Decluttering guides and checklists (I love my 5 Minute Miracles printable for this)
  • A laundry guide for quick reference (detailing daily loads, stain removal techniques, and hand-wash instructions).

Self-sealing laminating sheets are perfect if you’re working without a laminator. Once laminated, you can mark off tasks with a dry-erase marker and wipe them clean for next time.

3. Add Categories to Stay Organized

By breaking routines and tasks into categories, your cleaning clipboard can adapt to every part of your homemaking routine. Here are the categories I organize into my clipboard:

  • Cleaning Routine – Tasks broken into morning and evening slots for easy execution.
  • Laundry System Helps – A quick reference to what laundry should be washed each day (and on which machine settings!).
  • 5-Minute Miracle Sheets – A genius list of deep-cleaning tasks that take five minutes or less, divided by zones or areas of your home.

4. Prep Meal Planning Printables

For multitasking homemakers, combining cleaning routines with meal planning can streamline your week. On Wednesdays, I clean out the fridge—so I also include:

  • A grocery list template
  • A master recipe list featuring our family’s favorite meals
  • Weekly meal-planning sheets.

Having these tucked into the same clipboard means I can transition seamlessly from cleaning to planning—and stick everything back in the clipboard when I’m done. It also makes things easy to reference, and find, because it’s all stored in the same place! Click here to check out my meal planning printables.

5. Assemble the Clipboard

Now comes the fun part—putting it all together! Use the storage compartment in the clipboard to stow away rarely used printables or references, like hand-wash guides or laundry stripping tips. Attach magnets to the back of the clipboard if you want it to hang on a cleaning cart for easy access.

6. Pair with a Cleaning Cart

Speaking of cleaning carts, having a rolling station to house all your cleaning supplies (including your shiny new clipboard!) makes everything even more efficient. I’ve added labels and natural cleaning recipe stickers to my cart to match the clipboard, and I love how it all fits together. You can check out my blog post on my DIY Cleaning Cart here.

Why You’ll Love Your DIY Cleaning Clipboard

Here’s why a cleaning clipboard might just become your new best friend in homemaking:

  • It streamlines your routines, keeping everything you need in one easy-to-find spot.
  • It’s reusable and sustainable—laminated sheets and dry-erase markers mean no wasted paper in notebooks or constant reprinting.
  • It makes homemaking less overwhelming by breaking tasks into manageable chunks you can see on one page, and offering quick-access resources like stain-removal tips or meal plans.

Get Creative with Your Cleaning Clipboard!

There’s so much room for personalization when it comes to your clipboard. You can use store-bought items, thrifted finds, or printable templates to create a system that works perfectly for you. Plus, it’s genuinely satisfying to have a homemaking tool that’s functional, reliable, and designed entirely by you!
