Hey there, friends! I just managed to get my little one down for a nap, and I’m typing as fast as I can while the peace lasts. I wanted to catch up with you about something that’s been on my heart lately.

Can we talk about homemaking? I know, I know. Keeping up with the house gets such a bad rap. Cleaning, organizing, cooking…it’s repetitive, never-ending, and, frankly, a lot of work. I totally get it. I’ve felt it too!

There was a time in my life when my house was, well, chaos. I used to commute three hours round-trip for my job, and by the time I got home, the last thing I wanted to do was clean or cook or fold another mountain of laundry. My house was trashed. It was that overwhelming mess where you don’t even know where to start, so you just don’t.

That frustration was my turning point. I was so desperate for a solution that I started experimenting with routines. I tried, I failed, I tweaked, and over time, I came up with ones that actually worked for me. (Spoiler alert—inconsistent ADHD tendencies included!) And you know what happened next? I fell in love with homemaking.

Yeah, really.

Why Do You Love Homemaking?

I know what you’re thinking. “Why the heck do you love homemaking so much?” Trust me, I get it. But hear me out. Homemaking isn’t just about the chores. It’s about creating a space you love, where your people feel cared for, and where you can truly express yourself.

Here are a few reasons why homemaking has become one of the joys of my life, and why I’m so passionate about helping you love it too.

Homemaking Can Be a Creative Outlet

Homemaking doesn’t have to feel like slogging through an endless to-do list. It can actually be a way to express who you are. Adding your own little touches to your home is so satisfying, whether it’s painting an accent wall, arranging fresh flowers, or even stamping the toilet paper after cleaning the bathroom. (Yes, I do this. It’s weirdly fun, and I don’t care if you judge!)

Your home is one of the rare places in this world where you get to make the rules. It’s your sanctuary, your canvas. Putting time and effort into creating a space that reflects your personality and brings joy? That’s magic.

A Clean Space Makes a Big Difference

Have you ever walked into a messy house after a long day and immediately felt your stress level spike? Same.

Now, think about how it feels when you come home to a clean, welcoming space. It’s like a weight lifts off your shoulders. You breathe easier. You feel calmer. You’re not silently judging yourself over the state of the clutter on the counter or the dishes in the sink.

For me, a clean house has been a game-changer for my mental health. It doesn’t have to be spotless (because come on, we’re real people here), but reducing the chaos in my home helps me feel more in control. And when the people you live with feel that same sense of calm and peace? That’s even better.

Cleaning Can Be Therapeutic

I know this sounds suspicious, but stay with me. Cleaning used to be something I dreaded (and honestly, avoided). Then I discovered a little secret that flipped the script for me—I turned it into a ritual.

With my vintage radio cleaning routines, I pop on an old-timey audio episode, zone out, and get to work. It’s not about doing a perfect job. It’s not even about loving the act of cleaning itself. It’s about creating a moment that feels good while I clean, like I’m taking care of myself and my space without that inner dread.

When the episode ends, I look around and see the results of even just 15 minutes of effort…and y’all, it feels amazing. Add a candle, and I’m in my happy place.

Homemaking Is About Connection

This one is my favorite. Homemaking isn’t just something you do for yourself. It’s something you share with others. Whether it’s meal prepping with your mom-in-law (like I’m doing tonight!), inviting friends over for a cozy dinner, or creating a space where your family feels safe and loved, homemaking is about building connections.

Even this little community we’ve built here is a form of sharing homemaking. Seriously, being able to connect with you, swap ideas, and encourage each other? It’s the absolute best. I can’t imagine anything more fulfilling.

Thank You for Being Part of the Journey

You’re the reason I’m so passionate about what I do. This space, this connection we’ve built together, makes homemaking even more rewarding for me. I love sharing my routines, my struggles, and my wins with you. And I hope it inspires you to find ways to make homemaking feel good for yourself too.
