The ULTIMATE Evening Reset I Swear By Doing Weekly

A realistic “everything night” routine for moms that blends an everything shower/self care, cleaning, and has some free episodes to podcast cleaning routines.

You know that moment when you finally shower, climb into bed with clean sheets, and suddenly your brain just… I don’t know SINKS into the mattress along with your tired body? That’s my vibe.

I call it my “everything night.” It’s when I do the whole shebang — hair oil, mask, skincare, cleaning reset, clean sheets, all of it. It sounds like a lot, but it’s actually my way of feeling a little more relaxed and in control when the world feels OUT of control.

Here’s my routine!

Step 1: Shower/Skin Prep + Cleaning

I start by washing my face, and putting on a face mask. I put hair oil in my hair, and clip it up. But here’s the thing — I don’t just sit there waiting for my face mask to set. I use that time to clean. (Because if I’m going to look slightly ghostly in a clay mask, I might as well scare the crumbs off the counter too.)

So while the mask and hair oil are doing their thing, I press play on my Domestic Dreams Evening Cleaning Routine — one of my guided radio show clean-alongs that pairs homemaking tasks with cozy old 1950s shows like Suspense! and Fibber McGee and Molly. Click here to try some free episodes.

But here’s the routine it walks me through, so you can do it even if you don’t want to listen to the episodes:

✅ Quick clutter pickup (10 mins)
✅ Putting away the day’s laundry (5 mins)
✅ Loading and running the dishwasher (5 mins)
✅ Spot cleaning high-traffic floors (5 mins)
✅ Wrapping up with skincare and bedtime prep (5 mins)

By the time the radio episode ends, my kitchen is reset, the house feels so tidy and cozy, and I’m ready to get in the shower and wash my hair + scrub that face mask off. (10/10 recommend multitasking your mask time.)

It’s the best ADHD-friendly hack I’ve ever found — no timers, no overthinking, just press play and clean until the episode ends.

Step 2: The “Everything Shower”

Once I’ve done the quick clean and rinsed off my mask, I hop straight into having an “everything shower.”

I start with Dove or castile soap and a loofah to get truly clean. Then go in with a second pass of a moisturizing body wash and shave/get nice-smelling. I’ll do a body scrub and a foot scrub too just to really get the job done.

Hair mask? Always. Conditioner? Yes, and a leave-in after. Then my usual skincare lineup — toner, serum, eye cream, moisturizer (Beauty of Joseon forever).

It’s simple but as a tired, working, toddler mom I just need it to feel human again at least once a week.

Step 3: Fresh Sheets and Screens Off

Saturday mornings are clean sheet days, so I do this whole routine on Saturday evenings. AND by the time evening rolls around, they still smell like lavender because because… When I make the bed I spritz them with my homemade lavender fabric spray (the recipe’s in the video below) and do a quick smooth-over so everything feels crisp and cozy.

So after my shower I climb in, turn on a podcast or audiobook (just something I can turn the screen off), and finally relax — no dishes in the sink, no mess in sight, no mental yamering about what I “should” be doing.

Here’s the deal…

The “everything night” isn’t about trying to be miss perfect homemaker. It’s just about finding little ways to take care of yourself while taking care of your space.

Even twenty minutes can make a difference. And if you’re like me — a mom with a million tabs open in your brain — that difference is everything.
