But in reality? Traditional cleaning routines were working <em>against<\/em> her brain, not with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Overwhelm &amp; decision fatigue<\/strong> \u2014 When every surface, task, or drawer screams \u201cwhere do I start?!\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Stuck in indecision<\/strong> \u2014 What to do next? Which room? Which chore?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>No system that fit her lifestyle<\/strong> \u2014 Most routines assume a level of executive function many of us don\u2019t operate at daily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The breakthrough came when we reframed cleaning not as a massive checklist, but as a guided, timed experience that walked her through exactly what to do next\u2014with no brain work required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 3-Step System That Changed Everything<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Here\u2019s the core of what we did. Use this as a framework. Adapt. Tweak. But this got Emily unstuck\u2014and kept her moving forward daily. (And it&#8217;s helping hundreds of other moms like her!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: Turn routines into <em>audio-guided flows<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Instead of a long checklist and wondering where to start, Emily just pressed play. We created a <strong>\u201cpodcast cleaning routine\u201d<\/strong> (yes, really) that felt like a companion. For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">I took binge-worthy 1950s radio shows like Dragnet! (True Crime) and Father Knows Best (Comedy) and turned them into guided cleaning routines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Over ~30 minutes, it walks you through simple tasks: making the bed, doing dishes, putting in a load of laundry, clearing clutter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">On top of that, there\u2019s a <strong>weekly task<\/strong> built in (just 15 minutes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Because she didn\u2019t have to decide <em>what<\/em> to do next\u2014she just followed along\u2014everything got done more smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2: Time everything in increments your brain can manage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Every task in the routine was <strong>timed<\/strong>, but the radio show itself was the timer. So Emily never had to worry about overextending or losing track. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Task 1-2: Airing the beds + Start a load of laundry (5 mins) I tell you what to do, then the radio show plays the story for 5 minutes, and then I tell you the next task:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Task 3: Unload the Dishwasher (5 mins)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Task 4: Pick up clutter (5 mins)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Task 5: Weekly task like cleaning the bathrooms (15 minutes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This gives structure and lets you slip into autopilot. No getting stuck, no drifting off mid-task. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3: Remove decision fatigue\u2014pre-decide for her brain<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">We designed her routine so that <em>every detail<\/em> was decided already:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Which load of laundry to wash<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Which machine setting to use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">What to tackle first in clutter clearing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Nothing was left to guesswork, so she didn\u2019t waste energy wondering <em>what to do next<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As Emily put it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe morning and night routines have been a game changer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why This Works So Well (Backed by What We Know)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Reduced executive load:<\/strong> ADHD brains often struggle with planning and decision-making. Offloading those tasks to guided steps helps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Micro-tasking helps momentum:<\/strong> Psychology research suggests that breaking things into super small tasks lowers resistance and increases follow-through.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Cue + habit loop:<\/strong> Having consistent signals (press play, begin) helps anchor routines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Less friction = more consistency:<\/strong> The fewer decisions between you and the task, the better your odds of doing it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How You Can Try This Yourself (Adapted for Your Life)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">You don\u2019t need my exact routines to get started. Here&#8217;s how to DIY it yourself though:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Choose 3\u20135 simple tasks<\/strong> that matter most (laundry, dishes, clutter)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Assign short times<\/strong> (5, 7, 10 minutes)\u2014just enough you can stick with them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Podcast\/Audiobook App + Sleep Timer <\/strong>use the sleep timer function on your fave app for listening to podcasts or audiobooks. Set the time for how long you want to work on the task you&#8217;re on. When the show stops move on to the next task and set the timer again. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Repeat daily<\/strong>\u2014 remember, progress and consistency is what matters. NOT perfection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Be kind to yourself<\/strong> \u2014 some days you do more, some days less. AGAIN.
