Hey girl!

Ever wake up and feel totally overwhelmed by your messy house, and not know where to even START cleaning? You’re not alone! SO many of us are juggling tons of responsibilities, maybe working, homeschooling, shuttling kids around, and cooking meals which often leaves VERY little time for cleaning. The clutter and grime just seems to multiply overnight, making it feel like a never-ending battle just to keep on top of it. But guess what? I’ve got some game-changing tips to help you conquer the chaos! In this blog post, I’ll spill the tea on my morning cleaning routine, the five simple things I do every morning to keep my house sparkling clean. And they only take me 30 minutes. These routines have totally transformed my homemaking routine from a source of stress into a joy. It’s time to say goodbye to feeling defeated by the mess – let’s get into it, babe! 💪🏼

1. Air The Beds (This Morning Cleaning Routine task will save you from allergies!)

The first step in my morning cleaning routine: I crack the windows in the bedroom. Even in wintertime, I grab a pillow and pull back every layer of bedding, dusting and beating the dirt and rocks away. We live in the desert, so no matter how clean we keep our floors, dirt and tiny rocks and pebbles always find their way in. Pulling back every layer of bedding and giving it a quick beat helps get rid of these unwelcome guests. After that, I leave the blankets pulled back and the pillows by the window to air out, and then come back later to make the bed.

2. Laundry

One of the most crucial tasks in my morning cleaning routine is to do one load of laundry Monday through Saturday to make sure everything gets rotated through. For example, on Mondays, I’ll wash lights and whites. The clothes work their way towards towels on Fridays, and sheets and bedding on Saturdays. This system is designed to make sure that my clothes last as long as possible and are in their best shape because I’m not washing them in the wrong order. Washing darks right after washing towels often leaves little white fuzzies all over your clothing. You can check out my blog post that gives you ALL THE TEA on my laundry routine here. I also have laundry tags on all of my baskets, that tell me what load to wash and on what day, what wash settings to use, and what addons to include. You can get those here!

If you are looking for a morning cleaning routine that will fit into your busy schedule as a homemaker, this is it! I've tried so many cleaning schedules, and today I'm sharing what ACTUALLY WORKS to keep my home clean every day.

3. Dishes

After airing the beds and doing a load of laundry, I move on to dishes. I unload the dishwasher every morning and put away any clean dishes that are in the rack. Then I fill the sink with hot soapy water before I do any cooking or serve any meals. This way, I can clean the dishes as I go and have them soak. Everyone can just scrape their dishes and put them into the hot soapy water. If you only have a one-basin sink, I recommend getting a plastic wash tub with a drain and filling that up with the hot soapy water.

4. Clear The Clutter

Next, I clear the clutter in the house. I try to clean as I cook, so I don’t have to clean off the counters as part of my clutter clearing. But usually, there are still some things on there that I’ll pick up as well. I spend 5 minutes speed cleaning all the clutter. I like to grab a basket and go around the house, throwing everything that’s out of place in the basket. As I move from room to room, I put things where they belong. This method makes it much quicker to get all the clutter cleared up.

5. Finish the Morning Cleaning Routine With A Weekly Task

Every day, I finish with a weekly task (read my blog post on this here!). For example, cleaning the bathroom on Tuesdays or deep cleaning a zone (read my blog post on my zone system here) on Saturdays for 15 minutes. This helps me avoid any major spring cleaning and ensures those bigger tasks like cleaning the floors or bathrooms, that take more time, are still accomplished weekly.
